Job Purpose

The Copywriter is responsible for writing, editing, proofreading, and fact-checking creative, effective, and compliant copy for different types of communication and marketing materials. The Copywriter is responsible for developing a narrative about our products and/or financial concepts while adhering to verbal brand guidelines.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Takes complex product language and distills it into clear, simple language that customers understand and connect with.

  • Drafts copy for a variety of marketing materials in all media including collateral materials, brochures, internal/external communications, and group sales presentations while conveying a consistent brand image.

  • Proofreads and self-edits to deliver work that is accurate and achieves standards of creative excellence and technical quality.

  • Writes general and product-specific marketing in print, web and digital formats. Also provides writing support for periodic projects as assigned, including reports, blogs, etc.

  • Revises, edits, proofreads, and fact checks all copy to ensure accuracy of information and writing mechanics; updates, edits, and applies appropriate financial disclosure to materials.

  • Uses the principles of our brand identity to shape concepts/solutions.

  • Effectively utilizes content management system(s).

  • Seeks out answers and problem solves.

  • Actively monitors project schedules and upholds deadlines.

  • Exhibits flexibility and professionalism while effectively managing multiple projects, quick turnaround times and client feedback/revisions.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to develop creative written materials from initial concepts and to follow project from initial conception through execution.

  • Ability to communicate financial concepts simply.

  • Strong writing, editorial, and grammar skills.

  • Detail-oriented and focused on accuracy.

  • Strong organizational skills with ability to handle multiple priorities, meet demanding deadlines, and adjust to sudden changes in workflow.

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently or as part of a team and to liaise effectively with clients across the enterprise.

  • Ability to follow-up, multi-task, and work effectively and successfully on simultaneous projects with tight and changing priorities, scope, and timelines/deadlines while maintaining a high level of quality and professionalism.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.

  • Strong verbal communication and presentation skills.

  • Ability to develop knowledge of Jackson’s products.

  • Ability to develop knowledge of the financial services industry and products.

  • Broad understanding of different mediums and how visual and verbal must work together to meet unique requirements.

  • Ability to iterate and evolve concepts with constructive feedback.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Advertising, Communications, English, or Journalism and/or equivalent experience required.

3+ years of copywriting experience (agency and/or corporate) required.

Digital writing experience preferred.

Financial Services copywriting experience preferred.
